Gergő Bolgovics - Mayer Folk Dance Workshop

Gergő Bolgovics Teacher I was born in Kisújszállás, Hungary in 1992. My parents signed me up to folk dance classes when I was seven years old, to the Nagykun Dance Ensemble's children's group. While being there I have learnt the basics of dancing, social being, controlling of my body, I have learnt to play, imagine, want, respect and several other things. I have continued my studies at the Vocational School of Folk Arts in Fót, where we have been preparing for the dance career (some as professionals, some as dance teachers) with the help of several dance masters and pedagogues. Many students studying there have become professional dancers and excellent teachers. I started my professional career at the Ifjú Szivek Dance Theater in Bratislava, Slovakia in 2009 where I spent 4 years gaining a lot of experience at a relatively young age. After that, I have taught at several schools and ensembles as a freelancer, occasionally I have created choreographies, and I worked at the Attila József Theater from 2014 to 2016. In 2016 I joined the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble. It required serious technical preparation, a dancer can fulfill their dancing desires there, of course with lots of work and sacrifice. I also danced here for 4 years (2016-2020). Since then I am a freelancer again, I also perform in some dance theater plays, but mostly I teach dance in several ensembles and schools, both in Hungary and abroad. I believe that dancing and singing are essential parts of one's existence, essential for living a balanced life, and we must get to know to our traditions to be able to live them.
